The Iowa Poetry Association has announced the winners of their 2023 contest. Elayna Weber and Maeley Graves, 4th grade students at Easton Valley Elementary, were selected from 158 entries grades K-4, to have their poems published in Lyrical Iowa 2023. The judge for this division was Robert Schinzel from Argyle, Texas. Elayna and Maeley will get to attend a celebration of Iowa Poetry Associations’ Student Contest Winners where they will read their top ranking poems in June. As special guest that evening, the 2023 Iowa Student Poet Ambassador, Lola Nakashima-Brooke, a Junior from Davenport Central High School, will address the students as well as read some of her poems. Congratulations to these young writers!

The Easton Valley School Board will be moving up our regular May board meeting to this week. Our meeting originally scheduled for May 17 will now be held this Wednesday, May 10 at 6pm in our JH/HS. The agenda will be posted online by late Tuesday afternoon. Any associated exhibits will be added no later than Wednesday morning. Thanks!
