Today we’re celebrating chapter secretary, Sydney Stoll. Sydney’s service project was to raise funds and supplies for the classroom of a former student who teaches in Myanmar. She raised over $100 and received many supplies for this classroom! Thank you, Sydney, for showing us how to lead and serve others!

Today we’re recognizing senior NHS member, Taya Myers. For her service project, Taya enlisted some friends to help her “Chalk the Walk” on Preston’s Walking Path during our period of quarantine. The images and phrases brought color and joy to those on the path during trying times. Thank you, Taya, for leading creatively!

Today we’re recognizing Riverhawk NHS chapter vice president Kaitlyn Lee. Kaitlyn’s service project was to bring awareness of your social media presence to the students in our our JH leadership course. She did a great job of reminding them, “if you don’t want your grandma to read it, don’t say it!” Thank you, Kaitlyn, for always leading with a smile!

Today, our governor announced that schools in Iowa will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Despite this being the right thing to do, we are very saddened by this news. We will continue to deliver quality learning experiences via our Voluntary Distance Learning Plan. Please look for additional info and guidance to come out next week. Please be safe and take care!

Check out this awesome poem written by Lily Cheramy in 4th grade. Awesome job Lily 👏🙌. We are living in a time. Where going out is a crime. To support those on the frontline. We will keep in line. So do your part. And stay apart.
