Allison is diving deep into digital strategy through the Innovate 120 UX Design internship, where she’s working on a challenge for the City of Maquoketa and Jackson County Tourism to boost local travel and economic activity. A junior at Easton Valley High School, Allison quickly stood out for her creativity and curiosity.
“I didn’t realize how much goes on behind the scenes in UX,” she said. “It’s about understanding people before you ever start designing.”
Allison plans to study Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University, with a minor in Business. Her balance of technical thinking and communication has made her a strong collaborator on her team.
“Allison asks insightful questions and brings a thoughtful perspective,” said Jason Landa, one of the program’s mentors. “She has a natural ability to connect ideas and users.”

Food boxes include shelf-stable milk, fruit cups, pasta, cereal bars, peanut butter, jelly and other items. When families pick up boxes at one of the partnering food pantries, they also receive produce and meat as part of the program.

Qualifying households must meet the federal poverty level of 185% or lower or must have already self-attested to eligibility for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
