First grade wrapped up their unit "Different Lands, Similar Stories". They listened to several folktales that originated from countries all around the world. They learned several lessons in these stories with our favorite being: "We may be small, but we can do BIG things!" This lesson came from 3 of the stories they listened to where the character was as small as a thumb, but still helped others in very big ways. Students used their thumbs to make these big, beautiful fall trees with a reminder that they can do big things in this world.

💦 EVES had a goal of raising $500 during Red Ribbon Week to donate towards the Miles Splash Pad. They blew that goal "out of the water" and raised $745.16! These students were able to present the check to Laura Horst today; who is a member of the Miles Community Improvement Club. Thank you to all the kids and families who sent in money to make this happen! Students were also able to celebrate their success with a movie and popcorn last week! 🍿

Our 4th graders did an amazing job interviewing local veterans for our Veterans Day Program on Tuesday! Students worked in small groups to learn about each veteran’s service and experiences. During the program, one student from each group shared what they learned with everyone. It was a special way to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served our country! ❤️🤍💙

The Student Lighthouse Team at the Elementary School is hosting a "Food for Friends" drive! They'd like to keep the donations local to help with the backpack program, local food banks, and families who could use some help.
